Red, Red, Wine … as if you needed another excuse

Great news!  As well as being good for the heart, it seems that red wine is also a protection against hearing loss.

However, this older (2006) article from New Scientist notes that while the effect has been observed in rats, there is no evidence that it works in humans.  Humbug!

Interestingly, the effect is mild enough that you can never quite hear the phrase, “haven’t you had enough?” as you reach for another bottle of gloriously spicy, peppery, vanilla old rioja.  Strange stuff, science.
