Reminds me of Jeffrey Pfeffer’s book Power: flattery works, even the most toe-curlingly, blatant sycophancy leaves a positive impression.  Strange, sad, but apparently true.

Of course, you already knew this because you are particularly well-read and have unparalleled people-skills.
