I’m bemused that the Scottish National Party has chosen Let’s Stick Together as the theme tune for this ad supporting their campaign for separation:
“You know we made a vow
To leave one another never.”
The choice seems as ill-considered as many, more major policy considerations.
I am aware that the song was also re-issued by the writer as Let’s Work Together (same melody, different words) but the facts remain:
- It was originally called Let’s Stick Together
- It’s best known (at least in the UK) from Bryan Ferry’s excellent cover, Let’s Stick Together
- The ad features an instrumental version where the audience must rely on its memory to make the (presumably intentional) connection.
